Acid reflux also known as gastro esophageal reflux is basically a digestive disorder and very common problem. It happens when the esophagus valve does not function properly. In this condition, acid flows backward into the esophagus from the stomach and result into abdominal pain, belching, bloating and queasiness. To treat the condition, antacids are considered as the most effective drugs. Antacid side effects may vary from person to person and other medications they may be taking at the same time. Most common side effects of antacid drugs are constipation, diarrhea, or flatulence.

It may signify that you may have serious problem than normal acid reflux. Nursing baby or pregnant ladies should always contact the doctor before taking antacid. Generally, these medications should not be given to the children below age 12 unless doctor prescribes it.
